our mission

In honour of Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s life and accomplishments, the shorelines of the Atlantic will witness the world's single largest clean up of ocean-borne debris on the anniversary of his birth, Sunday, June 11, 2017.

Volunteer organisations in the Azores, Portugal, Bermuda, Madeira, Spain, Holland, South Africa, Brazil, Cape Verde, Dutch Caribbean, Canary Islands, Brazil, Guadaloupe, Dominica, Bahamas, USA, UK, Ireland and more, will join hands to collect all forms of plastic waste, inorganic flotsam/jetsam, trash, junk and garbage from the Atlantic’s beaches and shorelines. The goal is to involve communities and citizen organizations from all our Atlantic neighbors highlighting ocean plastic as a widely shared problem.

Plastic is the most dangerous thing in the ocean and when eaten in sufficient quantities can kill our ocean wildlife. Micro plastic is finding its way through the food chain direct to our very own dinner plates!!

With this action we are trying to bring this problem to the attention of the public at large.
